Render Block
What it is...

There are times when video creators need to take long breaks because of something the computer needs to do that takes quite a long time. Usually this is some form of rendering. You may be processing large amounts of RAW files into smaller items to work with. You may be creating versions of a final program into different delivery formats. In any case, that slow-moving progress bar means it's time to leave the computer alone for a while.

There are also times when a creator is working regularly on a laptop or home system, and the long process time for rendering isn't convenient, or just takes longer than is useful on the portable or less-powerful computer.

How we can help...

The Edit zone system has CPU and GPU resources that make rendering easier to tolerate, but there are still jobs that take quite a long time. We offer a special package for the Pro Media system that allows operators to setup a long render process, leave it to process overnight, then return in the morning to finish up, all at an attractive rate. Your laptop no longer needs to stay on all night, and maybe the process even gets done faster.

How it works...

You begin your Render Block at 11:00pm for an hour of session time and preparation for the render work. At midnight you leave. We close the door, leave the air-con running and allow your job to take its course. At 08:00 you return to wrap up your work, transfer files, or whatever final steps are necessary, then finish up by 09:00. This whole process is built into the Render Block rate. which provides the 8-hour processing task at an attractive rate of less than $70/hr.

If you need more prep time before starting, or want to stay longer in the morning, simply book additional hours before or after at the normal rate.

Special notes...

You will want to test your render settings and file paths using a small portion of your project before you start the big job. We're not responsible for making sure your overnight work does what you expect it to. Also, we don't maintain any generator backups for the render system, so in the unlikely event that there is a power outage interrupting your processes, we won't charge for the session at all.
